Undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in Kansai University, IIGE-affiliated institutions, UMAP-affiliated institutions, J-MCP-affiliated institutions, and AURORA-affiliated institutions listed below who are in good academic standing (recommended minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) are eligible to apply.

When will I find out if I have been accepted?

The application results of students enrolled in our overseas institutions will be sent directly to students’ home institutions via email from ku-coil@ml.kandai.jp by the end of December.

Are there any fees for this program?

There are no fees for the 21st century skills program
However, as this program will be fully conducted online, you are expected to procure the appropriate equipment to participate. Stipends or scholarships will NOT be granted toward the purchase of necessary equipment.*
*You will require a computer and stable internet connection, as well as a quality headphone and microphone set to participate in live sessions.

Is there an English language requirement?

The program will be conducted in English. CEFR B2 Level ( TOEFL iBT 87+, TOEIC 740+, IELTS 6.5+) English proficiency is recommended for non-native speakers.
Submission of a proof of language proficiency is not required.

The J-MCP modules for Summer 2023 will be developed in one field: 21st Century Skills. Participants will deepen their knowledge in this field through collaborative projects with their overseas peers.

Yes, in principle, we require participants to join all live sessions. Please inform the instructor in advance if you cannot participate in a session.

What happens if I have to miss a live session due to extenuating circumstances? Will the recordings of the lectures be available to the participants?
やむを得ない事情でライブ講義を欠席しなくてはいけない場合、どうなりますか。講義の録画を見ることはできますか？
We ask all the students to participate in live sessions as much as possible. However, the recordings of each session will be made available on ImmerseU.
全参加者に、できるだけライブでの参加をお願いしています。ただし、各セッションの録画はImmerseUにて配信する予定です。

What equipment do I need to participate in the program?
プログラムに参加するためには、どのような機材を準備する必要がありますか？
This program will be conducted 100% online, which will require access to a reliable internet connection. You will be required to prepare a PC, quality headset and microphone, and video camera if your PC or laptop does not have one.
*IIGE will NOT provide any hardware, nor provide a stipend or scholarship to purchase anything you might not have.
このプログラムは全てオンラインで実施されるため、インターネットの接続環境が必要となります。PC、ヘッドセットとマイク、ビデオカメラ（PCやノートPCに付属していない場合）などをご用意ください。

All programs required for participation can be accessed through the internet browser of your PC. You do not need to download any programs or apps.

When are the live sessions? What should I do in between meetings?

The dates for the live sessions are listed in the program schedule.
In between sessions you will be given assignments and be expected to work on group projects independently.

Lectures will be conducted via live sessions
Please be sure to check the time difference with your location accordingly. Group work will be conducted independently, and should be coordinated with the members of your group (to be determined at a later date). Successful candidates will receive further details in June.

When and how should I turn in my assignments?

Homework will be assigned after each lecture to be completed before the next live session. You will be asked to submit them via the ImmerseU e-learning platform.

Will I receive a certificate for completing the program?
プログラム終了時に証明書・単位は発行されますか？
Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible for a certificate in digital format (with learning hours described) to be issued by IIGE (Kansai University) within 3 months of program completion.
Digital badges issued by IIGE are verifiable and meet qualifications for IMS Global Open Badges 2.0. Students’ home institutions can review the content of the completed course through the issued badge. Students’ home institutions may determine digital badges to be credit-bearing at their discretion.
IIGE/Kansai University does NOT issue transcripts (official or unofficial), letters of credit approval, nor any similar documentation for this program.
プログラムを修了した受講者には、プログラム修了後3ヶ月以内にIIGE（関西大学）からデジタルバッジ（学習時間が記載されている）が発行されます。
IIGEが発行するデジタルバッジは、IMS Global Open Badges 2.0の資格を満たし、検証可能なものです。受講者の所属機関は、発行されたバッジを通じて修了したコースの内容を確認することができます。受講者の所属機関は、本デジタルバッジを用いて単位認定の裁量が与えられております。

Can I request a different name to appear on my digital badge?
電子証明書に記載する名前を変更することはできますか？
Students’ names will appear on their badge as they are registered. Students who wish to have a different name appear on their certificate MUST inform their home institution at the time of application.
申し込み時に登録された名前が証明書に使用されます。証明書に別の名前を記載することを希望する学生は、必ず応募時に所属機関に通知してください。
