Q: Who is eligible to apply?
どんな人が応募できますか？
Undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled at Kansai University or IIGE COIL Partner Universities*, and UMAP-affiliated institutions who are in good academic standing (recommended minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) who have been approved by their home institutions are eligible to apply.
*IIGE COIL Partner Institutions and UMAP affiliated institutions are listed below.
関西大学所属の学部・院生（関西大学に留学中の交換留学生も含む）、IIGE COILパートナー校※またはUMAP加盟校に在籍している学部生・院生で、成績優秀者（GPA3.0以上（4.0点満点）を推奨）で、所属機関の承認を得ている方が応募可能です。

Q: What are the program dates?
プログラム実施期間を教えてください。
The main program of UMAP-COIL 2021 will take place 100% online between August 2, 2021 and September 13, 2021. There will be pre and post-program workshops before and after the main program. (Pre-program workshop: July 30-August 1, post-program workshop: September 14-20)
Please note that these dates are subject to change.
2021年UMAP-COILプログラムは、2021年8月2日から2021年9月13日の期間に100％オンラインで行われ、事前事後研修も行われます。（事前研修：7月30日～8月1日、事後研修：9月14日～9月20日）
これらの日程は変更される場合がありますのでご注意ください。
Q: How do I apply to the program?
申し込み方法を教えてください。
Students must apply for this program through their home institutions.
本プログラムは学生の所属機関からの申し込みのみ、受け付けます。
Q: When is the application deadline?
申込締切はいつですか？
Overseas Students:
The deadline for university endorsements is: 12:00 pm June 18, 2021 (JST)
Student applications will close on June 27, 2021 at 12:00 pm (JST).
海外大学生：
各機関によるエンドースメント受付締め切り：2021年6月18日 正午（日本時間）

Kansai University Students:
Application OPENS on June 3, 2021, CLOSES on June 18, 2021 at 12:00 pm (JST)

UMAP pledged institutions should send student applications to your National Secretariat contact or the UMAP International Secretariat by July 1, 2021. Please contact umap-is@umap.org for more information.
Q: When will I find out if I have been accepted?
選考結果はいつ頃わかりますか？
Successful Kansai University candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview to take place between June 28th and July 2nd. Final results will be sent by July 9, 2021.
Application results will be sent directly to students’ home institutions via email from umap-coil@ml.kandai.jp by July 9, 2021 (JST).

関西大学所属の学生（本校への留学生を含む）には6月28日～7月2日の期間に面接を行います。最終選考結果は2021年7月９日までにお知らせいたします。
関西大学所属以外の学生には、2021年7月9日（日本時間）までに各学生の所属機関にIIGE（umap-coil@ml.kandai.jp）よりメールでお知らせします。
※迷惑メールやスパム扱いされないようご注意ください。前もって本メールアドレスを登録していただくことをお勧めします。
Q: Are there any fees for this program?
参加費はありますか？
There are no fees for this program.*
However, as this program will be fully conducted online, you are expected to procure the appropriate equipment to participate. Stipends or scholarships will NOT be granted toward the purchase of necessary equipment.**
*This applies to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in Kansai University, UMAP-affiliated institutions and IIGE COIL Partner Universities (see the list at the top of the page).
**You will require a computer and stable internet connection, as well as a quality headphone and microphone set to participate in live sessions.
2021年度UMAP-COILプログラムの参加費は無料となります。
ただし、本プログラムは完全にオンラインで行われるため、参加するために必要な機材等は参加者ご自身で調達していただく必要があります。必要な機器の購入に対して、補助金や奨学金は支給されません。
*関西大学の学生、UMAPの加盟校およびIIGE COILパートナー大学（ページ上部のリスト参照）に在籍中の大学生・大学院生が対象となります。
**ライブのセッションに参加するためには、パソコンと安定したインターネット環境、ヘッドフォンとマイクのセットを用意してください。
Q: Is there an English language requirement?
どのくらいの英語力が必要ですか？
The program will be conducted in English. CEFR B2 Level ( TOEFL iBT 87+, TOEIC 740+, IELTS 6.5+) English proficiency is recommended for non-native speakers. You will need to submit a 300-400 word essay in English explaining why you would like to enroll at the time of application.
You will not be required to submit proof of language certification.
CEFR B2レベル以上（ TOEFL iBT 87+, TOEIC 740+, IELTS 6.5+）であることを勧めます。応募する際、申し込みを希望する理由を説明した300-400字程度の英文エッセイを提出してください。
語学証明書の提出は必要ありません。
Q: What competencies will I gain from participating in this program?
このプログラムに参加すると、どのような能力が身につきますか？
You will gain critical thinking skills, presentation skills, and intercultural communication skills through group project work with other students from multicultural backgrounds.
多文化な背景を持つ学生たちとの協同学習を通じて、クリティカルシンキングスキル、プレゼンテーションスキル、異文化コミュニケーションスキルを身につけることができます。
Q: Is it possible to apply to this program without any knowledge of the SDGs? Do we have to study SDGs by ourselves in advance?
SDGsの知識がなくても、このプログラムに応募することは可能ですか。また、事前に自分でSDGsを勉強しておく必要がありますか？
Yes, you can apply with no base knowledge of the SDGs. However, we encourage you to look them up online prior to the start of the program. You will learn more at the pre-program workshop.
はい、SDGsの基礎知識がなくても応募できます。ただし、事前学習をお勧めします。この件に関しては、事前研修で詳しく説明します。
Q: Are the pre- and post-program workshops mandatory? Will I have to join LIVE sessions?
事前研修と事後研修の参加は必須ですか。また、その研修ではライブのセッションがありますか？
The pre- and post-program workshops are mandatory for Kansai University students. Successful candidates will receive further details about the workshops in July.
関西大学の学生は、事前研修と事後研修の参加が必須です。プログラム参加の合格者には7月以降、研修について詳細をお知らせします。
Q: What happens if I have to miss a live session due to extenuating circumstances? Will the recordings of the lectures be available to the participants?
やむを得ない事情でライブ講義を欠席しなくてはいけない場合、どうなりますか。講義の録画を見ることはできますか。
We ask all the students to participate in live sessions as much as possible and the certificate of participation will only be issued to those who have participated in over 70% of the program. However, the recordings of each session will be made available on ImmerseU.
全参加者に、できるだけライブでの参加をお願いしています。参加証明書はプログラムの7割以上参加した学生にのみ発行します。ただし、各セッションの録画はImmerseUにて配信する予定です。
Q: What equipment do I need to participate in the program?
プログラムに参加するためには、どのような機材を準備する必要がありますか？
This program will be conducted 100% online, which will require access to a reliable internet connection. You will be required to prepare a PC, quality headset and microphone, and video camera if your PC or laptop does not have one.
*UMAP and IIGE will NOT provide any hardware, nor provide a stipend or scholarship to purchase anything you might not have.
このプログラムは100％オンラインで実施されるため、インターネットの接続環境が必要となります。PC、ヘッドセットとマイク、ビデオカメラ（PCやノートPCに付属していない場合）などをご用意ください。
*UMAPとIIGEは、機材の貸し出しや物品購入の補助金の提供は行いません。
Q: Do I have to download any special software?
何か特別なソフトウェアをダウンロードする必要がありますか？
All programs required for participation can be accessed through the internet browser of your PC. You do not need to download any programs or apps.
参加に必要なプログラムはすべて、お使いのPCのインターネットブラウザからアクセスできます。プログラムやアプリをダウンロードする必要はありません。
Q: I understand that the program will be conducted online, but will we ever meet in person?
プログラムはオンラインで行われるとのことですが、他の参加者と実際に会うことはないのでしょうか？
This program will be conducted 100% online. In order to comply with COVID-19 prevention measures and for the safety of participants, there will be no in person meetings.
このプログラムは100％オンラインで行われます。コロナウィルス感染の防止策を遵守し、参加者の安全を確保するために、学生同士で直接会うことはありません
Q: Where should I go to join the live sessions?
ライブのセッションに参加するにはどこに行けばいいですか？
You may participate from wherever you wish, as long as you have access to a steady and reliable internet connection. We recommend that you participate from home.
安定したインターネット環境があれば、どこからでも参加できます。ご自宅からの参加をお勧めします。
Q: When are the live sessions? What should I do in between meetings?
ライブセッションはいつ行われますか。次のセッションまでの間に何をすればいいですか？
The dates for the live sessions are listed in the program schedule.
In between sessions you will be given assignments and be expected to work on group projects independently.
ライブセッションの日程は、プログラムスケジュールに記載されています。
セッションの合間には課題が与えられ、グループプロジェクトを自主的に進めていただくことになります。
Q: How many hours will the program take?
プログラムの所要時間は何時間ですか？
Lectures will be conducted via live sessions (Mondays, 10:00 ~ 11:30 AM JST). Please be sure to check the time difference with your location accordingly. Group work will be conducted independently over the course of two weeks in August, and should be coordinated with the members of your group (to be determined at a later date). Final presentations will be held during the last live session of the program and will take approximately 3 hours. Successful candidates will receive further details in July.
各講義はライブで行われます（日本時間の月曜日、午前10時～11時30分）。お住まいの地域との時差を確認してください。グループワークは、8月の2週間で独立して行いますので、グループのメンバーと調整してください。最終プレゼンテーションは、プログラムの最後のライブセッションで行われ、約3時間かかります。参加者には7月に詳細をお知らせします。
Q: When and how should I turn in my assignments?
課題はいつ、どのように提出すればよいのでしょうか？
Homework will be assigned after each lecture to be completed before the next live session. You will be asked to submit them via the ImmerseU e-learning platform.
各講義の後に課題が出されますので、次のライブセッションまでに終わらせてください。ImmerseUのe-learningプラットフォームから提出していただきます。
Q: What should I be doing during the 2 weeks of independent project work?
2週間のグループプロジェクトでは何をすればいいですか？
Participants will be organized into groups of 5-6 students to prepare for a final presentation (September 13th). Groups should delegate tasks and arrange times to meet to discuss project work independently. How much time it will take will depend on how efficiently you are able to work as a team, but is expected to take between 20-30 hours in total.
参加者は5～6人のグループに分かれて、最終発表会（9月13日開催予定）に向けて準備します。グループ内で作業を分担し、プロジェクトについて話し合う時間を確保してください。どのくらいの時間がかかるかは、皆さんがチームとしてどれだけ効率的に作業できるかによりますが、合計で20～30時間かかることが予想されます。
Q: Will I receive a certificate for completing the program?
プログラム終了時に証明書は発行されますか？
Certificates of Participation will be issued to students’ home universities by the end of September 2021. Certificates of Participation (with learning hours described) will be issued to students’ home universities by the end of September 2021. Participants who attend and complete the assignments including the final project will be eligible to receive a certificate of participation.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: UMAP-COIL Joint Program does NOT offer credits to non-Kansai University students. This is a certificate program only.
参加者には2021年9月末までに関西大学より証明書を発行します。参加証明書（学習時間の記載あり）は、2021年9月末までに受講者の出身大学に発行されます。プログラムに参加し、最終プロジェクトを含む課題を完了した参加者には、参加証明書が発行されます。
重要なお知らせ：UMAP-COILでは関西大学生以外には単位の提供を行いません。本プログラムでは証明書発行のみ可能となります。
Q: Can I request a different name to appear on my certificate(s)?
証明書に記載する名前を変更することはできますか？
Students’ names will appear on their certificates as they are registered. Students who wish to have a different name appear on their certificate MUST inform their home institution at the time of application.
申し込み時に登録された名前が証明書に使用されます。証明書に別の名前を記載することを希望する学生は、必ず応募時に所属機関に通知してください。
